Export your list from Substack

Download your Substack subscribers as a CSV and bring them into Zeebra.

  1. In Substack, open your publication's dashboard, then Subscribers.
  2. Click Export. If you have filters on, choose your whole list. Substack prepares a CSV of your subscribers, free and paid.
  3. When it's ready, click Download last export.
  4. In Zeebra, open Contacts → Import and drop the CSV.

You can also get the list from your publication's Settings, under Import/Export: a new export there is a ZIP with your posts and a subscriber CSV inside.

Substack's active_subscription column says whether someone pays, not whether they're subscribed, so Zeebra leaves it out: free and paid readers both come in as subscribed. Map it to a property if you want to keep who pays.

The email_disabled column is true for readers who turned Substack's emails off. Zeebra reads it: they come in unsubscribed and are never emailed.

Paid plans stay with Substack: Zeebra brings in the people and the columns you map.
